Sharazad from 'The Storyteller's Daughter'

I always enjoyed some of these re-told fairy-tales . It's fun seeing how complicated & different these stories are, while at the same time keeping with the main folk-tale.

No, I did not misspell her name. That's what the heroine's name is in the story, rather than the usual "Scheherazade." But this is the same young lady who saved her life & the lives of other women by telling stories to a sultan who had issues w/ trusting wives.

This is 1 of my fave re-told fairy-tales. I like some of the other books in the series too, like "Midnight Pearls."

In this version, Sharazad has the ability to run her fingers through cloths that magically appear from her deceased mother's ebony chest, & she can read stories from the cloth. Each story is unique for the person who took the cloth out of the chest (for normally the chest is empty). She is blind, hence why I used some of those lights from the drag-and-drop to make her normally dark eyes cloudy-looking.

They didn't specifically say that she lived in an Arab or Persian country, though it's clear that it's a fantasy version of a Middle Eastern kingdom. The book also states that her mother (who was also a blind storyteller), came from northwestern India, due to conquests of the sultan's father.

This version of the story is interesting b/c in this, Sharazad must not only save herself, but her new husband as well, for his last wife put him under a terrible curse that turned him evil. Over time they gradually fall in love, though the healing process is long, arduous, & very, very risky for both of them.

I used some of Jasmine's clothing items from the Heroine fan-art creator to create what Sharazad possibly wore when presenting herself to the king as his only bride when the time came.
