I Dream of Jeannie+Jeannie's Evil Sister

After posting Jeannie from "I Dream of Jeannie," [link] I couldn't resist making her sister, since every1 loves comparing their costumes . Once again, I used the Heroine fan-art maker. Again, the costume isn't quite accurate, but I did my best & kept checking pictures of Jeannie's sister as a reference.

Unlike Jeannie, her sister's very vain & spoiled, with gold jewelry dripping off her costume, & she's got gigantic diamond rings on both hands. I couldn't do a green veil under the doll's chin, though I did try & make her many necklaces look like what the evil sister wore. I used clothing pieces from Jasmine, Esmeralda, the princess section, & the mermaid section.

In the 3rd season of the show, we get to meet Jeannie's older sister, Jeannie, who is also a genie. Yeah, silly rt? That the 2 of them would have the exact same name, & yet she told her master/boyfriend, Major Nelson, that he would have absolutely no trouble telling the 2 of them apart.

Unfortunately, inviting a sister over who she hasn't seen in 2000 years turned out to be a huge mistake, b/c Jeannie wasn't aware of her sister's true nature until she blinked a spell to bring her to Cocoa Beach (Major Nelson's home in Florida). The evil Jeannie took 1 look at Major Nelson and SO wanted him. The 2 sisters started fighting over him.

And so began a number of episodes where Jeannie's evil sister would pop in from Baghdad & wreak havoc in order to try and steal Major Nelson away from Jeannie. Of all the bad guys Jeannie & Major Nelson faced, the evil sister was the worst of them, seeing as she was sneaky & much more worldly than the nice Jeannie. The episodes were especially funny b/c Major Nelson would first have to figure out that the evil sister was in town, (b/c sometimes Jeannie didn't tell him, or she didn't know herself & her sister would often frame her for doing bad things to her master). Then they'd have to find a way to outwit the evil Jeannie, which always got complicated .

Another thing that made Jeannie's sister a fun character was the fact that she was played by Barbara Eden too! It was basically the same actress wearing a dark brown wig w/ a green costume, using a lower, scheming voice, & acting mischievously & deliciously evil.

It was fun reading how they filmed scenes w/ Jeannie & her sister together.

1.) They'd first do the scene with Barbara Eden playing Jeannie, & a special stand-in actress who was the same height, weight, & similar in facial features to the actress would wear the evil sister's costume & do her lines.

2.) Then the 2 actresses would switch costumes, with Barbara Eden now doing the scene as the evil sister, and the stand-in would wear Jeannie's costume & do her lines.

3.) Finally they'd take the 2 scenes & do cut-and-paste (a very primitive version of what they do today with blue-screen technology), with only frames showing Barbara Eden playing both parts. Sometimes it wasn't that difficult if the stand-in had her back to the camera.

It was pretty good for the 60s, and they also used this technique when filming "The Parent Trap" with Lindsay Lohan, (seeing as she was only 1 person playing twins ).
