Traditional Indian Bridal Costume+Mehndi, India

Description

As you can see, based on the comparison picture, this costume's based on a paper doll I have. (I'm a big fan of Tom Tierney paper dolls from the Dover Book company ). I had some fun learning about how brides traditionally dress in other countries (compared to how most ppl in the Free World imitate the US & Europe with the white gown/black tux style).

I could elaborate more, but this was specifically done b/c of Doll-Divine's Sari-maker game. It was surprisingly challenging b/c the print on the paper doll's clothing wasn't exactly the same as what the dress-up game had. But I improvised, as usual ;).

It's true, though, that women in India wear red to part of their wedding, emphasis on the "part." From what I've read, during the 3 phases of the ceremony, the bride changes her costume for each part. I believe the red costume is worn in the middle phase, and some parts of the ceremony involve dousing her & the groom in colored powders.
