Qyzen Fess, My Consular's Best Friend

Again, here's Lyonene, my Jedi Consular . She's 1 of my fave characters to play b/c of all my avatars, she's the most like me.

1 problem with being a Jedi Consular is, they're not heavy fighters like Jedi Knights. They fight from a distance & use the Force more so than their lightsabers. (Unless you're a Shadow, then you have to sneak up & get the enemy from behind). So, every consular needs muscle to back them up in battle. A strong warrior to help them out.

The first companion you get in the Consular storyline is Qyzen Fess. He's a Trandoshan, a humanoid, reptilian species whose entire culture is about hunting. I'll put the SWTOR Wiki info here:

"Famed as a fearless hunter and tracker, Qyzen's search for the galaxy's deadliest beasts has taken him from the swamps of Belkadan to Tatooine's endless deserts, bartering trophies for ship passage, anything to reach the next hunting ground.

Qyzen has no interest in possessions, needing only his weapons and his tally of jagganath points; a score every Trandoshan must earn through honorable kills to appease their goddess, the Scorekeeper. While most Trandoshan become guns-for-hire to earn their jagganath points, Qyzen choose a traditional path, hunting everything from sand demons to rancor beasts and refusing to kill anything unworthy of his considerable skills. In his travels he has crossed paths with many other wanderers, criminals, Mandalorians, even Jedi Masters, making him slow to trust any stranger, but once he makes a friend, Qyzen will defend them with his life.

Hehe, at first, Qyzen reminded me of the Gorn from Star Trek, but after a while, I started realizing that he was better. As my brother would say, the Gorn only WISH they were like the Trandoshans .

Qyzen can't speak Basic (the universal language of Star Wars, & their version of English). He can only speak in growls & snarls, so I have to read subtitles to know what he's saying, .

He's actually very nice, & I almost always have him with me when traveling around planets w/ dangerous ppl/animals on it. Qyzen likes the fact that I don't treat him like a monster like some people have done to him, b/c unfortunately, as stated above, a number of his species become mercenaries & go about hunting in a bad way, including killing innocents.

I remember some idiot on the General Chat complaining about how Qyzen looked, & I basically made it clear that his appearance isn't as important as his contribution to the Jedi Sage or Shadow. Better to have him slashing up enemies w/ his techblades than the enemies blasting you to bits.

The only thing I disliked about him was the fact that he once told me he at one time hunted Wookies on Kashyyyk (the Wookie homeworld). After learning to love Chewbacca, it's difficult to imagine any1 hunting his species like animals.

1 of Qyzen's stranger qualities is the fact that his primary attribute is Aim . He doesn't even USE guns, so why the heck would he need to know how to aim? You'd think his primary attribute would be Strength, like Bowdaar, or a Jedi Knight. Must be some weird idea on behalf of the game designers.
