Weddings are a big deal in India. The entire occasion can take over a week (maybe even longer) to complete, which includes the ceremonies before and after the major event. This was the first country I came across in my readings where the bride didn't wear white to her wedding. A few Indian women adopt white for their wedding Saris (you can find them on Google) but the traditional color is red with lots of gold embroidery.
