I Dream of Jeannie

I fell in love w/ this tv series when I was 9. They had it on Nickelodeon's "Nick At Night" lineup on Fridays back in the 90s, & I had lots of fun watching it . It's 1 of the few oldies tv series that I watch, & even the cheesy special-effects don't really bother me.

I think I like the show for 3 reasons:

1.) It's funny.

2.) It's got NASA & the Space Program involved (I mean, a genie & an astronaut? How much of an odd couple can you get? lol). I always loved learning about the space program, thanks to dad. However, other fans of the show noticed Major Nelson flew on WAY more missions than all the real astronauts in the program combined .

3.) The fantasy part also made it fun, w/ Jeannie getting her boyfriend/master, Major Nelson, intro trouble all the time from blinking up supernatural stuff . I also loved Jeannie b/c she's such an innocent sweetheart (most of the time, anyway), & a total fish-out-of water when it came to "modern" 1960s culture .

I recently collected all 5 seasons on DVD . It's way cleaner & longer-lasting than tapes scattered around the house . I also liked that they color-ized the first season, which was in black-and-white when it first broadcast in 1965.

As you can see, I used the Heroine Fan-art Creator to make our little Jeannie here . Her top isn't quite accurate, & I couldn't put a veil under her chin, but you get the gist of what her costume looked like. Unlike the tv show, we can show off her belly button all we want . (The tv regulators were such sticks in the mud in those days when it came to how much Barbara Eden could show off with her costume).
I made her little hat out of roses & pearls. The ponytail isn't quite right, but it was the best I could find.
