Cinderella's wardrobe

I kept forgetting to upload this, but I finally did it. I made Cindy's various costumes using Azalea's Heroine Fan-Art maker: [link] This movie was first introduced to me when I was little, since Disney was doing a 30th Anniversary thing & re-releasing all their famous 50s cartoon films in theaters and on video tape.

What's really interesting about Cinderella was, it's sometimes called "the movie that saved Disney." The company wasn't doing so well before the film was released in 1950. If the movie hadn't done so well, Walt Disney Studios might have gone bankrupt & closed. But thankfully it didn't :).

One issue I've always found interesting about this story was color schemes. I was often confused as to what color Cinderella's hair was, because artists have always alternated between her being a dark blond or a strawberry blond. There was also the issue of Cinderella's iconic ballgown color. In the original film it was white, but appears sparkly blue in the softly lit ballroom & garden scenes when she dances alone with the Prince. I think that's where the misconception comes about, because most people think her ballgown is blue & don't want it mistaken for a wedding dress. Many other versions of Cinderella write her off in white or blue for the ballgown, since they're the colors of innocence.

It also wasn't until recently Disney made a big deal about the pink dress her little mice friends made before her evil step-sisters shredded it. It was pretty, though it looked more like something worn at a garden party, rather than a royal ball. In some versions of the fairy-tale, Cinderella didn't have time to make even a simple dress in between helping her step-family prepare for the ball all day long. I even read a few versions where she wore her deceased mother's wedding dress/ballgown, rather than the fairy godmother creating it.

I also noticed that Cinderella's wedding gown and veil, when she married the Prince, was actually a very popular 1950s style. (It was a really weird coincidence, but Lois Lane wore the EXACT SAME STYLE of wedding gown & veil in the comic book issue where she married Clark Kent, & yet still didn't know she was marrying Superman at the same time :giggle:).

I loved her mother's dress. Why did those two bitches of stepsisters have to tear it up? I know they saw items that had belonged to them on the dress, but they didn't even want them anymore! Besides, this was the only thing that remained of Cinderella's mother, and now Cinderella has nothing. No wonder she was completely heartbroken when they ripped it up!😢😡
