Anne's Red Banquet Gown

Description

I didn't think I would even do this dress for Anne b/c you can barely see it on either the "Tudors" wiki OR the episode she wore it in. All you see are her head & shoulders, though this is the only dress she really wears with that interesting headdress. The color looks good on Anne, though. She wears the dress briefly during a scene where King Henry is hosting a banquet for the King of France & challenges him to a 1-on-1 wrestling match.

However, I have a pretty good idea what the dress might look like, based on several sources.

1.) It's a re-used costume, having been used in some movie called "Dangerous Beauty." [link]
I've never actually seen this movie, nor do I know what it's about, though it looks like some1 was playing with the Italian & late English Renaissance when it came to costume-designing.

2.) I found 2 fan costume sites that were selling or featuring a dress that looks very much like Anne's. Here [link] and here [link]

The sleeves are different, but Renaissance clothing was typically designed to remove and mix-&-match clothing pieces to add more variety to a person's wardrobe. So it's very possible the dress had long red sleeves put on instead of the loose, detached sleeves the fan-made costumes have. It's actually a very pretty dress, though I wouldn't have put the little fringe on the bottom of the bodice with such a style. That type of bodice style was more common w/ 17th century English clothing, as opposed to early 16th century Italian Renaissance style the dress mostly emulates.

So I found two pictures of the possible dress Anne was wearing. Here are the links: [link] and [link] As you can see there are several different possibilities as to which one it is. I think the dress Anne is wearing is the one on the first woman in the second picture. They look the most similar from what I can see in this photo.
